One of the world’s most exclusive cars, the Lamborghini Veneno, has been labelled the ugliest ever made.
Authoritative US automotive site Edmunds.com claims the $4.5 million Italian supercar – of which just three will be sold – is the least attractive ... nay, most hideous car ever produced.
It topped the site’s list of “100 ugliest cars of all time”, with the website describing it as “every supercar cliché and every bad idea Lamborghini ever had, stuffed into one overpriced showcar”.
The angular, fin-encrusted Veneno was revealed at the 2013 Geneva motor show in March, and it’s based on the V12-powered Aventador with a 552kW 6.5-litre V12 engine that's capable of launching the carbon fibre-bodied supercar from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds.
There’s no denying the car has extreme styling, and the company’s chairman Stephan Winkelmann defended its appearance at the show.
“When we have a small [production] run we have much more freedom in design,” he said, claiming hero cars such as the Veneno can positively influence the sales of other cars in the range.
The article counters, saying the car is: “the worst thing out of Italy since fascism”.
The top 100 cars list also contains some, shall we say, more agreeable choices, including the Pontiac Aztek, first-generation Fiat Multipla and the original Subaru Tribeca, with its aeroplane-inspired nose treatment.
But there are cars that could be argued as attractive rather than ugly, such as the Subaru Brumby (aka Brat), Ferrari California and the iconic, snail-like Citroen 2CV.
Drive has had a crack at making its own list of the ugliest cars ever made, which you can view here.
The Lamborghini Veneno is undoubtedly eye-catching, but does it hurt your eyes to look at it? Let us know in the comments section below. comment if the veneno is ugly or not!!
